Hi Lisa, I just saw all of your woodpecker photos. They are great and the woodpecker is one of my favorite birds to watch. All of your photos are really good. Thanks for sharing.

Two weekends ago I purchased a picture of this very woodpecker. This past weekend I saw one on the suet feeder in my backyard for the very first time. I just love to watch them. This is a great picture.

About Me
After living 33 years in Louisiana, I just recently moved to northwestern New Mexico. I've been actively birding for the past couple of years and love having this site so I can catalog my bird photos. Up until this summer, all the birds I have seen and photographed have been in Louisiana but now I will get to add a new album of western birds that I am getting the opportunity to see!!! Very exciting times!!!
My favorite type of birds:
White-throated Sparrow - for it's haunting winter song;
Northern Flicker woodpecker - most exotic look & crazy jungle call;
Blue Jay - most handsome;
Eastern Bluebird - cute nesting habits;
Carolina Wren - most comical;
Hummingbird - fun photo ops!

My Guides

Louisiana Ornithological Society's Checklist of Louisiana Birds: www.losbird.org/checklist.htm

National Geographic Field Guide to the Birds of North America, Fifth Edition - this is a GREAT guide book to help you ID birds

My Camera: Kodak Easyshare 7DZ10 - it is easy to use and has a great German made 10X zoom which makes getting close up shots of birds easy.

I saw BALD EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was visiting Baton Rouge during Mardi Gras weekend and was walking along the river walk beside downtown, snapping photos of different things that I saw. Later on when I cropped the attached photo, it looked to me like the birds in the photo were Bald Eagles (the white head & tail with the spread out wing tips). When I looked at my bird field guide, it said that Bald Eagles can be seen along the Mississippi River during the winter and then I saw… Continue

Vacation Days @ Restoration Park

I was lucky enough to make 4 vacation days stretch into a week and a half off of work by attaching those days between Christmas & New Year's holidays and it has been a welcome relief just to stay home and grub around the house and yard (that is, after celebrating each holiday and then putting away all the decorations for said holidays - ha!) But that was the beauty of this stretched out vacation - sufficient time to do EVERYTHING with leisure time… Continue

Thanks for the kind words, Lisa! :)

I use a Nikon D80 along with two Tamron lenses. I have a 17-55mm for "usual" photography, and I also have a 200-500mm for bird/wildlife photography.
